Level B1
Intermediate French classes online (B1)
B1 is where French becomes yours. You stop translating in your head, start expressing opinions, and begin practising the task types used in TEF Canada and TCF Canada.
What you learn at B1
- Expressing and defending opinions
- Telling stories and describing experiences in detail
- Conditional, subjunctive basics and relative pronouns
- Understanding radio-style audio and longer texts
- Writing letters, short articles and formal emails
Your first exam tasks
From B1 we introduce real exam formats: short oral exchanges, information requests, opinion messages and reading comprehension under time limits. You learn the format early, so B2 can focus on raising your score.
Where B1 leaves you on the NCLC scale
A strong B1 usually corresponds to around NCLC 5–6. That already meets some immigration and citizenship thresholds, and it is the last step before the NCLC 7 target for French-language Express Entry rounds.
